Death of Mrs Jettie Coykendall
Mrs Jettie Coykendall, 79, of Bald Hill, Canadice, widow of Everett Coykendall; died Saturday afternoon in Rochester, after a long illness. She was the last of a family of nine children.
Mrs Coykendall was born in Canadice and was the daughter of Henry and Caroline Colegrove McCrossen. She was a teacher in the Canadice schoolhouse several years, before her marriage to Mr Coykendall of Canadice, which took place May 8, 1887. The latter died January 4th of last year. The couple had been residents of Bald Hill for nearly fifty years.
A prayer service was held Monday morning at 11 o'clock, from the home of her son, Howard, 63 Chapin street, Rochester, followed by funeral services at the Hemlock Methodist Church at 2:30, the Rev Wm J Brown of Livonia, a former paistor of the church, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Springwater. The bearers, who were all nephews of Mrs Coykendall, were: Roy Coykendall, Guy and Leslie McCrossen of Rochester; Harry Coykendall of Lakeville; Dr Floyd Annis of Flint, Mich and Grove Stephenson of Irvine, Pa.
Mrs Coykendall is survived by one son of Rochester; two grandchildren, Betty and Coe, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs Coykendall was a member of the Hemlock Methodist church.
