George was born to George Sharp Burt, Sr., and Louisa (Lulu) M. Lines in Kansas.

He married Lilian Emily Frances Blenkarn, daughter of William Thomas Blenkarn and Eleanor Marie Ardley (Turner), on 22 Oct 1890 at Wabaunsee, Kansas. They had four children:

Elsie Blenkarn
Louise Lilian
Charles William
George Donald
Ardley Phillip

After Grandma Lines passed away, his parents gave him and his brother Frank her farm.

In the spring of 1892, his brother Frank decided to move his family to the farm, so the land was divided.

George took the land on the west side of the railroad track, this land had no buildings so they had to start building. Frank moved his family into the old house with George and his family and they lived together until new buildings were built.

On 17 April 1882, twelve hours after Jessie Burt gave birth to their son Elford, George's wife, Lilian gave birth to Elsie.

George was able to move his family into a new home. At first, there were but three bedrooms finished. Later, two bedrooms were finished upstairs and, still, later, two rooms were built on downstairs. Also, cement porches and sidewalks were put in.

They moved to Topeka in August 1912.

In the fall of 1919, George moved his family to Sandpoint Idaho, and bought a "stump" farm. It was starting life all over again and it was not easy. A house had to be built the land had to be cleared of the stumps and then the farming had to be done. It was a hard life, to begin with, but they stayed, built a home and life was comfortable and enjoyable.
