Fred Batzka and his wife, Lottie, last Sunday celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The couple, both children of pioneers of this vicinity, were married 50 years ago Sunday at the old Luken homestead, three miles southwest of town. Mrs. Batzka was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Luken and her husband was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Batzka. The newlyweds took up their life together in this community and have lived happily here all these years. They planned a quiet celebration at their home Sunday with their immediate family and near relatives present. A huge dinner had been prepared for the occasion, topped with a beautiful golden anniversary cake, the creation of Mrs. Joseph Fingerhut of North Judson. Participating in the happy event were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rosch of Long Prairie, Minn.; Mrs. Hazel Sheridan of Norfolk, VA.; Norman Batzka of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Batzka and daughters of Markle, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. John Batzka and daughters, June and Edith, of LaCrosse and Victor Reinkee of Wanatah.
