Funeral services were held Thursday, November 5, from the DeMean home, with Rev. Frank W. Sutton of the Christian Church, officiating. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons, William, John, Fred, George and Henry Schneider and William DeMean. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty, Iowa.
Agnese Catharina Paulsen was born July 23, 1841, in Burg, Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Nicolaus and Susanna (Horn) Paulsen. She married Jurgen Friedrich Schneider on December 31, 1864, in Landkirchen, Fehmarn, Germany. The family came to the United States and settled on a farm in Cedar County, near West Liberty in 1883. Fred preceded her in death on April 26, 1917. She continued to live on the farm, now owned by her son, Fred, until she moved to live with her daughter and her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Minnie (William) DeMean of West Liberty and Dora (Ebenezer) Westfall of Graettinger; two sons, Fred (Wilhelmine) Schneider of West Liberty and Henry (Anna) Schneider of Fenton; 34 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three granddaughters and two grandsons. Her parents, one daughter, Elise Schneider, one sister and five brothers, preceded her in death in Germany.
