Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, at the J. J. Martin Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, with Rev. F. C. Pruel and Rev. A. F. Schuldt officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Kern, Jake Zweifel, George Menke, William Brass, Earl Moore and Roy Atkinson. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Heinrich Wilhelm Matthaus Schneider was born July 28, 1881, in Lemkenhafen, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Jurgen and Anna (Paulsen) Schneider. He immigrated with his family to the United States in 1883, and settled on a farm in Muscatine County, Iowa, near West Liberty. He used the name of Henry during his lifetime. He later moved to Palo Alto County. He married Anna Marie Miller on August 20, 1901, in Emmetsburg. Together they farmed in Palo Alto County, until they retired and moved to Fenton. Anna preceded him in death on May 19, 1943. He then made his home in Emmetsburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Caroline (Hugh) Carney Sr., of Rodman, Mabel (Everett) Hartmann of Fenton and Eunice Schneider of Emmetsburg; three sons, Herman (Esther) Schneider of Cylinder, Henry (Elizabeth) Schneider of Algona and Ralph (Caroline) Schneider of Fenton; eight grandchildren; one sister, Ulrike (William) DeMean of West Liberty; and one brother, Jurgen (Wilhelmina) Schneider of West Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Anna Schneider, one son, Fred Schneider, one grandchild in infancy and two sisters, Elise Schneider and Anna Westfall.
