Funeral services were held Monday from the Schneider home, with Rev. Robert McInturff, paster of the local Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty, Iowa.
Jurgen Friedrich Schneider was born August 23, 1835, in Gahlendorf, Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Jurgen Friedrich and Catharina Dorothea (Busekist) Schneider. He married Agnese Catharina Paulsen on December 31, 1864, in Landkirchen, Fehmarn. The family came to the United States and settled on a farm in Cedar County, near West Liberty in 1883, where they have since made their home. Their son, Fred Schneider, now farms the homestead.
Surviving are his wife, Agnes; two daughters, Dora (Ebenezer) Westfall of Graettinger and Minnie (William) DeMean of West Liberty; two sons, Fred (Wilhelmine) Schneider of West Liberty and Henry (Anna) Schneider of Fenton; 33 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three granddaughters and two grandsons. His parents and one daughter, Elise Schneider, preceded him in death in Germany.
