Mrs. Anton Roeder, 79, of 910 6th St., Kiel, died early Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital after a prolonged illness. Nee Elizabeth Stemper, she was born Nov. 4, 1875, in the town of Port Washington, a daughter of the late John and Barbara Grabinger Stemper. She was married May 30, 1899, to Anton Roeder at St. Ann's Catholic Church at St. Anna, six miles west of Kiel. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm near St. Ann where they lived until moving to Kiel in 1948. Mrs. Roeder was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel and the Christian Mothers' Alter Society of St. Ann's parish at St. Ann.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Matthew (Olive) Winkel, St. Ann, and Mrs. Alfred (Viola) Mirsberger, Sheboygan; two sons, Ervin of Chilton, and Walter of New Holstein; 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, John Stemper of Kiel and Nick of New Holstein, and four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Weyker, Racine, Mrs. John Hass, Minneapolis and Mrs. Albert Kohler and Mrs. Henry Mitter, both of Barton. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic, Kiel, following brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. Burial will be in St. Ann's parish cemetery.
