He married Petra Macias Ramirez, her second marriage with 3 dtrs; Simona (1903), Mariana (1904), and Juanita (1907).
They had 9 children. They moved from Mexico to Thurber, Texas, where he was a brick maker and wood cutter, to Bettendorf, Scott, IA in the Spring of 1918 to work in the Bettendorf Co., when trains were flourishing. Bettendorf Co. made the train wheel assemblies and hired many immigrants, Mexican, Lithuanian, and Irish noteably.
He was heavily in debt to the Texas employer company store when they moved. Since the Bettendorf Co. was such a good job, Jose was able to repay his debt in one month. (Dtr Frances Puente).
He died of cancer in 1954.
He is buried with Petra and his mother, Juana Balandran Saldivar.
