Clarence was born in Harrodsburg, Ky., to the late Insco W. Sr. and Charlotte F. Rue. He was raised in Harrodsburg and graduated from Harrodsburg High School in 1943. At that time he entered the United States Marine Corp. and served in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1946, he went on to attend Baylor University and in 1950 received a Bachelor of Arts degree. On June 1, 1951, he married Billye R. Franklin and moved to Louisville, Ky. He entered Southern Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity in 1956.
For over 50 years, "Brother Shad" pastored churches in Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas. In 1990, he retired after 25 years of serving the great people of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. The passion of his life was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to all he came in contact with. His ministry took him to many countries of the world where he tirelessly preached the "Good News" and led thousands of people to faith in Jesus Christ. This gentle and caring preacher loved his family with all his heart. He lived his life before them as an example of what a godly husband and father is. His children and grandchildren loved him as well, but they knew that he "loved them more". Brother Shad was a man of deep and abiding faith who simply allowed Jesus to touch thousands of lives through him as he made his journey through life. This precious man of God had an enduring and unwavering spirit that was obvious to all who knew him. This sweet man fought the good fight and finished the race well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billye R. Rue; brother, Insco Williams Rue, Jr., plus 10 more brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Deene Hyde and husband, Jim, of Springdale, Ark.; sons, Nelson Rue and wife, Anne, of Waco, and Les Rue and wife, Sheila, of Amarillo; grandchildren, Linsey McDonald and husband, Tony, and Ryan Hyde, all of Springdale, Shawn Hyde, of Lake Forest, Calif., Christopher Rue, of St. Louis, Chris A. Rue, Misty Rue and Amanda Rue, all of Amarillo, and Jennifer Lee and husband, Mike, and David Mauer, all of Dallas; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Aileen Doehler, of Littleton, Colo.
