Lois Lancaster Rue Reed, 86, of 449 Mooreland Avenue, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. Born September 3, 1914, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Insco Williams and Charlotte Forbes Rue. She was the widow of Hugh E. Reed. She was a life-long member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she sang in the Church choir, taught Sunday School and was Church secretary for 24 years, retiring in 1976. Survivors include: two sons, Ronald H. (Martha Shellenberger) Reed and William H. (Bennie Kay Smith) Reed, both of Versailles; one sister, Mrs. Aileen Rue Doehler, Littleton, CO; four brothers, Edwin Rue, Lexington, Frank Rue, Merrit Island, FL, Leslie Rue, Harrodsburg, and Rev. Clarence Rue, Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arch B. and Insco W. Rue, Jr.; five sisters, Elsie McMurtry, Eula Lee Ison, Lorraine Rue, Zoe Overstreet and Mildred Netherton. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 25, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jay Schmidt, Thomas Reed, Bill Randolph, Howard Fallis, Bill Hargis and Todd Hargis. Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Christian Church or the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
