MRS. TAYLOR BAKER

Alvie Lavina Lipe, daughter of John and Elizabeth Lipe, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, November 7, 1875, and departed this life June 10, 1949, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arlo Turner, at Knoxville, Iowa.

On January 1, 1895, she was married to Taylor Baker and they became the parents of eight children.

She accepted Christ and was baptized in the Norwood United Brethren church in 1915. After moving to Moline, Ill., she transferred her membership to the First Methodist church at that place. She was also a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans at Moline, having served as president of that organization.

She was known to her family and friends as a woman of fine Christian character, a devoted mother and a loyal neighbor.

Mr. Baker, one son and one daughter preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Virgil, of Lucas; Archie, of Oregon City, Ore.; four daughters, Rachel Turner, of Knoxville; Marie Curtis, of Lacona; Myrtle Brunner, of Indianola; and Lola Hayes, of Moline. Also 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
