BAKER
Virgil V. Baker, son of Alvie and Taylor Baker, was born February 3, 1898 in Lucas County, Iowa and passed away November 6, 1985 at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 3 days.
On February 8, 1922 he was united in marriage to Bessie Fern Anderson. To this union five children were born. Virgil and Bessie farmed all of their married life in the Lucas and Norwood areas, moving to Chariton in October of 1982.
Virgil was converted and baptized in a Norwood revival in 1942 and kept his faith to the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie and their five children, Kenneth of Lucas, Hollis of Chariton, Rita Dixson of Lucas, Verna Blakey of Millerton and George of Des Moines. Also 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lola Hays of Illinois, Myrtle Brunner of Indianola, Marie Curtis of Chariton; one brother, Archie Baker of Oregon and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Virgil Baker were held Saturday, November 9, 1985 at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial was in the Norwood Cemetery.
