Obit in The Anthon Herald, 26 November 1947, page 1: Mrs. Carrie Belle McDermott, 63, a longtime resident of Woodbury county, died Thursday at her home in Anthon after a short illness. She was born January 8, 1884, at Clarinda, Iowa, and married to W.E. McDermott July 21, 1903, at the Catholic Church by Father Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. McDermott retired from farming about five years ago and moved to Anthon. During her illness Mrs. McDermott was cared for by Mrs. Pauline Schable. Survivors are the widower, William; a son, Vester of Danbury; four daughters, Mrs. May Jorgensen of Anthon, Mrs. Bessie Peters of Danbury, Mrs. Angeline Chase of Hubbard, Nebraska, and Mrs. Katherine Hammond of Oto; a brother, A.J. King of Quimby; three sisters, Mrs. Lenora Keogh of Omaha, Mrs. Ella Malcom of Spencer, Nebraska, and Mrs. Maude Todd of Eugene, Oregon; 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. A. Conlon officiating. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home.
