Obit in The Anthon Herald, 27 June 1951, page 1: Funeral services for William Elmer McDermott, 76, a resident of Anthon 53 years, who died Thursday morning at the home of his brother, Tom, in Anthon after a short illness were held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. A. Conlon officiating. Burial was in Mount St. Joseph's Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home. He was born February 22, 1875, at Jonesdale, Wisconsin. He married Carrie King in Anthon on July 21, 1903. The couple spent their entire married life in the Anthon vicinity. Nine years ago they retired and moved to Anthon. Mrs. McDermott died 3 1/2 years ago. Since then Mr. McDermott had lived with various members of his family. Survivors are one son, Vester, of Anthon, four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Peters of Correctionville, Mrs. Mary Jorgensen of Anthon, Mrs. Angeline Chase of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Mrs. Katherine Hammond of Oto; 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mame King of Quimby and Mrs. Cassie Bray of Lawton, Oklahoma, and two brothers, Tom and Clarence, both of Anthon.
