Mrs. Bessie Johnson Clough, age 91 of Douglas, GA., passed away Monday, August 22, 1994, at Carpenter's Home Manor in Lakeland, FL., following an extended illness. She was born in Montgomery County, Ga, on September 2, 1902 to Charlie [Horne] Johnson and Elizabeth Joyce Johnson.

Mrs. Clough moved to Lakeland from Douglas 3 years ago, to be near her daughter. She was a retired church financial secretary, a homemaker, and bookkeeper at Clough Ice and Coal for 17 years; and a graduate of Georgia Normal College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Douglas, and was the widow of the late Daniel Gaskin Clough.

Survivors include:
One daughter: Phyllis Clough Davis of Lakeland, FL.
Two sons: Daniel Ronald Clough of Huntsville, and Dr. Gerald Wayne Clough of Atlanta, Ga.
One sister, Ruby Johnson Smith of Hazlehurst, GA..
8 grandchildren
4 great-grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm Thursday, August 25, 1994, at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, GA, with the interment at the Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
