Donald was born in Goose Paddle, Walker County, Texas. He was the seventh child of Napoleon Bonaport Wilson and wife Alice Theodocia McAdams Wilson. His family moved to Reeves County, Texas and homesteaded some land. They moved back to Walker County when his father became sick. Donald married Ona Ester Russell April 13, 1927 in Cumby, Hopkins County, Texas. Ona was the daughter of John David Morrow Russell and Statira Cameron Russell. She was a half sister to Carl Russell who married Donald's oldest sister Frankie. Donald met Ona when he was teaching in Hopkins County and so was she. They made their home by the Bedias Road.They had one son David Robin born in 1935. Donald worked for the prison in Huntsville and also farmed his farm. Ona's mother Statira and her sister Jewell lived with them until the death of her mother. Jewel remained until she went into a nursing home. Donald got cancer and died in 1972. Ona and David Robin remained on the farm until she got sick and died in 1994. David Robin died in 1999.
