Funeral services for Roy W. Skalberg were held October 28th, 1978, at 11 o'clock from the Schroder Mortuary of Silvis, Illinois, with Rev. James R. Lundell of the First Covenant Church of Moline officiating. Interment was at the Greenview Memorial Gardens at Silvis, Illinois.
Roy William Skalberg, 87, formerly of Silvis, died Wednesday, October 25th, 1978, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island, Illinois. He was stricken with a massive stroke in April and never regained good health.
Roy was born in Wakefield, Nebraska on December 5, 1890, the son of J. A. and Hannah Skalberg. While still a young boy, they moved to Wausa, where he grew up to young manhood. He was baptized and confirmed at the Mission Covenant Church in Wausa, Nebraska. He was married to Gundhild Holmberg of Wausa in December of 1916.
On retirement from farming they moved to Silvis, Illinois.
Mrs. Skalberg and one daughter June preceded him in death in 1974.
Survivors include daughters, Alice (Mrs. Cyril Diederick) of Silvis, Illinois and Lois (Mrs. Steven Radovich) of Moline, Illinois; sons Lorraine of Whitney, Texas; Robert, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Clifford of Houston, Texas; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mamie (Mrs. Edward Olsen) of Carlsbad, California, Emma (Mrs. Harry Peterson) of Brookings, South Dakota; Crystal (Mrs. Elmer Holmquist) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Rose (Mrs. Anthon Swanson) of Wausa, Nebraska; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Holmquist of Omaha attended the funeral services for her brother.
