ROSE S. SWANSON
Rose Skalberg Swanson was born August 22, 1911 in Wausa, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Skalberg, pioneers of the Wausa community.
Rose was baptized November 29, 1911 and later confirmed on March 1, 1925 in the Mission Covenant Chruch. As a young lady, she was a graduate of Wausa High School in 1930 and then attended Wayne State Teachers College.
Rose was united in marriage with Anthon Swanson August 6, 1934, and to this union, one daughter was born. The family left Wausa in 1941 and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1942 they moved to Norfolk before moving to Wausa in 1943.
Rose and Anthon operated Tony's Meat Market until retiring in 1969. Anthon and Rose joined the Thabor Lutheran Church April 7, 1955. Rose was in failing health for the past five years and passed away at the Osmond Hospital August 1, 1986 at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years, Anthon, daughter, Shirley and her husband P. L. Emmons of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, granddaughter Mori Emmons of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeff Emmons and his wife Mary, Elsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota.
She is also survived by great grandchildren, Ben and Katelin, sisters, Mamie (Mrs. Edward Olsen), of San Marcos, California, Emma (Mrs. Harry Peterson), of Brookings, South Dakota, Crystal (Mrs. Elmer Holmquist) of Omaha, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
Services were held at Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa on Monday, August 4, 1986 at 2 P.M.
Ushers were Don Pfeil and Glen Schultz. Pallbearers were Leland Skalberg, Merril Lind, Sterling Peterson, Sheldon Lind, Russel Lind, and Roger Johnson.
Mrs. Albin Anderson was organist and Dan Dorah soloist.
Interment was at the Thabor Lutheran Cemetery, Wausa, Knox County, Nebraska.
