Verne (Alve) Starr Silvennoinen, 90, of Lake Worth, passed away September 21, 1995. She was born in Pori, Finland on May 10, 1905, the daughter of Ripert and Vera (Westerlund) Alve. She was a member of the Finnish American Rest Home and the Finnish Workers Educational Club, Kenttahaali.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, G. Raymond and Emma Lou Starr; granddaughters, Ginger Starr of Pensacola, Florida and Brenda Quirk (Bob) of Palatka, Florida, grandson, Goeffrey Starr (Annette) of Spencer. New York; sisters, Vienna Ketola of Dryden, New York and Violet Gray of St. Johnsville, New York; several nieces and nephews.

In 1909 Verna and her mom Vera (on the passenger lists as Warma and Werna) immigrated thru Canada to America on board the passenger ship Virginian. A ship that in 1912 was one of several ships in wireless radio communication with RMS Titanic, giving iceberg warnings, and at one point false wireless messages had Virginian towing Titanic to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
