Leona was the 2nd child of five born to Charles Bassett Ross and Ora Ellen Reynolds. The family is listed in the 1900 federal census living in Erving, Jewell Co., Kansas. She married Willie Theron "Billie" Mason on June 21, 1914 in Coolidge, Kansas. Willie was born October 26, 1888 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Mary Henrietta Jenkins and Theron Sylvester Mason. Willie was a telegraph operator for Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad. They had three children, Theron Isaac, Charles William and a daughter, Bonnie Mason Schoonover. Leona Ross Mason died at the age of 100 in Redlands, California, two days after her son Theron Isaac died. She is buried in Lamar, Colorado next to her husband.
