William Dean Brawner Sr.
William Dean "Bill" Brawner Sr., 66, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Bill was cremated and his ashes were spread on his property. (Per Wayne Ellis Brawner Jr.)
Bill was born on May 8, 1940, in Kingman, Kan., the son of Arlie and Mildred Wittaker Brawner. He attended school in Hutchinson. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1962 and served on Aircraft Carrier USS Hancock and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. He was employed by Republic Gypsum for 48 years where he was a turbine operator. He retired in November 2005. He was a member of the Am Vets and the Hutchinson American Legion.
On March 10, 1956, he married Patsy C. Fought in Newkirk, Okla. They made their first home in Hutchinson and then moved to Berkeley, Calif., from 1962 to 1966 when they returned to Hutchinson. She passed away on Feb. 10, 1999.
He is survived by a son, William D. "Bill" Brawner Jr. and his wife, Jessica, Nashville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Sage and Sawyer; five brothers, Delmar Brawner and his wife, Hazel, Ronnie Brawner and his wife, Patricia, James and his wife, Rita, and Jerry and his wife, Jan, all of Hutchinson, and Larry Brawner, Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, Norma Ardolino, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Clarissa Hoss and her husband, Jerry, Burrton, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Doris; and a granddaughter, Shiloh.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Art Maddock officiating.
Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the funeral home, 300 East 30th, Hutchinson, KS 67502. Personal condolences may be left at www.penwellgabel.com.
