Mrs. Roy Young of Delphos, Kansas, died at the hospital at Concordia, Monday morning. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Atchison and was better known to Kirwin people at Merle Atchison.
Last September she was operated upon for appendicitis but did not regain her health. She went to the hospital about two weeks ago for another operation and died as above stated. She was 29 years old and had been married nine years.
With her at the time of her death were her husband, Roy Young, her mother, Mrs. A. N. Atchison, her sister, Mrs. Leslie McCollum and husband of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and her husband's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Phillips, also of Delphos.
The funeral services were conducted from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Atchison by Rev. O. N. Wiles. The singers for the service were Mrs. Carl Ronan, Mrs. Frank Brotemarkle, Mr. Frank Brotemarkle, and Mrs. Paul Roy.

Muriel Atchison Young
Muriel Atchison Young was born May 15, 1896, at Kirwin, Kansas, and attended the Kirwin schools. She was united in marriage July 11, 1916, to O. L. Young, of Abilene, Kansas. They immediately moved to Flint, Michigan, and resided there one year and six months. From there they moved to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and lived there until June 21, 1921. Since then they have lived in Delphos, Kansas.
Muriel was a member of the Presbyterian Church and at the time of her death was a member of the Alpha Sunday school class at Delphos, Kansas.
Muriel was of a most cheerful disposition and was loved by all who knew her. In her last sickness she was patient and always thinking of others and had perfect faith in Christ. Her last words were that she was going to her home where there was neither aches nor pain and that she was going to be happy.
Muriel passed away at 7 o'clock in the morning on April 5, 1926, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia, Kansas.
Besides her husband, Muriel leaves her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Albert N. Atchison, three sisters, Mrs. Leslie McCollum of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Mrs. S. M. Henney of Mountain View, California, and Mrs. Fred Scott of Kirwin, Kansas, and one brother, Mr. Gilbert Atchison of Kirwin besides a host of other relatives and friends.
During the last two months of her illness, her mother and husband were at her bedside to comfort her in her last hours.
The funeral services were at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert N. Atchison, conducted by Rev. Oliver N. Wiles, pastor of the Kirwin Methodist Episcopal church.

The quartet composed of Dr. Johnson, Mrs. Carl Ronan, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brotemarkle with Miss Bertha Stuckman at the piano, furnished the music.
The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. A large crowd assembled for the services.
Interment was in the Kirwin cemetery April 7, there to await the resurrection morn.
