Obituary

Mrs. Albert N. Atchison

Ida Mae Cribbs, only child of Gill and Emma Cribbs, was born in Iowa on May 24, 1869, and departed this earthly life at her home in Kirwin, Kansas, on November 19, 1939, this marking the anniversary of the birth of her only son, and at almost exactly the same hour.

She, with her parents, moved from Iowa to Pawnee, Nebraska, later coming to Phillips County, Kansas, in 1862 and locating near Kirwin where she has spent the entire remainder of her life.

She was united in marriage to Albert N. Atchison in April 1885. To this union were born four daughters and one son, two daughters preceding her in death, Muriel in 1926 and Grace in 1938.

She had been in failing health since last March when she suffered a stroke. As soon as she was able to be moved, she was taken to the home of her son where she spent more than five months regaining her health by the tender care so willingly given her by her loved ones. She was so patient during the months of helplessness and tried hard to regain her health, and was in the very best health she had known for several years when she suffered the second stroke on November 13 after being back in her home just one month.

She was a good mother and wife, a great lover of pets, flowers and all of nature's beauties. The main joy in her life was her two little grandsons.

Those left to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Albert N. Atchison, two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Henney of Palo Alto, California, Mrs. Ruth McCollam of Medicine Park, Oklahoma, and one son, Gill C. Atchison of Kirwin, Kansas. Four grandchildren, Mrs. Lorraine Lee, Mrs. Doris White, Darrel Dean and Gill Edward Atchison, and three great grandchildren, Diane and Carol White and Joimae Lee.
