Grace May Atchison, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert N. Atchison, was born at Kirwin community April 21, 1886.

She graduated from the Kirwin high school in her girlhood and spent all of her life here.

December 31, 1908, she was united in marriage with Fred Lester Scott. To this marriage one daughter was born.

She departed this earthly life from her home September 27, 1938, at the age of 52 years, 5 months, 6 days.

On the afternoon of September 27th, after a hearty dinner, she said she did not feel very well, and about 12:30 went to lie down for a little while. At four o'clock she had gone to her eternal home. So quickly did she pass that it was like a dream or nightmare to those left behind. No complaints, no indications that the evening time of life had arrived, she lay down and went to sleep to awaken in eternity.

In her passing she leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband, Fred L. Scott, her daughter, Mrs. Loraine M. Lee, a little granddaughter, Joimae Lee, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Atchison, her brother, Gill Atchison, all of the Kirwin neighborhood, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Henney of Palo Alto, California, and Mrs. Ruth McCollam of Medicine Park, Oklahoma. One sister, Muriel, preceded her in death. Besides these she leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Atchison was one who loved her home and loved ones and was devoted to their interests above every other interest in life. All her thoughts were for her friends and her home, and but few for herself. Kindly, sympathetic, interested in the well-being of those round about her, and with her little granddaughter as the chief joy of her life, she lived unassuming, patiently, kindly industriously, a good neighbor and friend until God called.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Fred Simmons in charge.
The singers were Mrs. Grace Brotemarkle, Mrs. Iola McFadden, and Messrs Charles and Ted Stuckman, with Bertha Stuckman as pianist.

The many beautiful flowers were cared for by Misses Harriet Scott, Harriet Atchison and Lucy Westbrook and Nadine Scott.

Those serving as pallbearers were George Palmer, Len and Will Kilmer, Will Parsons, Henry Freeman, and Otto Werner.

Interment was in the Kirwin Cemetery.
