Mrs. Mary Ruth Webber Wood, 74, of 895 Brook St., died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Ryan Nursing Home. She was the widow of Jake Carl Wood. Born in Appomattox County, she was a daughter of the late George Martin and Lucy Green Webber. She was a member of Park View United Methodist Church and Lynchburg Lodge No. 54 of Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons, Jake Carl Wood, Jr., of Richmond and Melvin Luther Wood of Lynchburg; two daughters, Mrs. Lenwood T. Godsey and Mrs. Lorne Doty of Lynchburg; a sister, Mrs. S. H. Swanson of Lynchburg;; nine grand-children and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Park View United Methdist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family is at the residence of a son, Melvin L. Wood, 600 Hayes Drive. Whitten Park Avenue Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
