Bernice Morris was born to a pioneer family in Upshur County. This Morris family originally came to Texas from Tennessee, and settled in the Pritchett community, between Pritchett and Gilmer, Texas before the Civil War. Their farm was where the Morris Cemetery now is located. Bernice was also related to many other pioneer families in the Upshur County area; the Johnsons, Rays, Reynolds, Mings, and others.
Bernice and Raymond were married March 7, 1931 in Upshur County, Tx. They had grown up on adjoining farms in the Center Point Community of Pritchett, Tx. There were 6 children born of this union.
