Sherrill, her daughter, Suzanne Streeter and her daughters friend, Stacy McCall, all disappeared from her home in the early morning hours of June 7, 1992. Their purses were found in the house with their cigarettes, the tv was on and their cars were parked in the driveway. Suzie and Stacy had graduated from Kickapoo High School the evening before and had arrived at her home shortly after 2 a.m, after attending a couple of graduation parties. The case became known as The Springfield Three.

Sherrill had blonde hair, brown eyes and was possibly wearing a floral print dress. She and her daughter were declared legally dead in 1997.
