Rev. Glick was returning from a church camp in North Carolina where he had served as a leader. The car which he was driving and one driven by Frank E. Harris of Charlottesville struck head-on as each was attempting to pass other vehicles. Both drivers were killed instantly.
A son of Rev. John T. Glick and Effie Evers Glick, he was bom April 19, 1931, near Centerville in Augusta County. He graduated from North River High School and Bridgewater College. He had attended Bethany Biblical Seminary in Chicago for one year and had planned on returning to the seminary this fall to complete his ministerial education.
He was at the time of his death pastor of the Little River Church of the Brethren near Fordwick and was athletic director of the Craigsville High School where he was also a member of the teaching staff. While at Bridgewater College he was active in athletics and received many Honors in track competition.
He was extremely popular with people of all ages and was loved and respected by both his students and grown-ups alike. He was a member and secretary of the Craigsville Ruritan Club.
Besides his parents of Centerville, he is survived by 11 brothers and sisters: Dr. Wendell P. Glick of Duluth, Minn.; Prof. Victor E. Glick of Bridgewater; Dr. John T. Glick, Jr., of Broadway; Rev. G, Wayne Glick of Lancaster, Pa.; Mrs. Glenn (Elizabeth) Rieman of Hollidaysburg Pa.; Donald L. Glick of Port Republic; Miss Margaret Glick of Arlington; Dr. Joseph L. Glick of Akron. Ohio; Mrs. Raymond (Dawn) Phibbs of Bridgewater; Mrs. Allyn (Ruth) Welliver of Mercersbursr, Pa., and Stanley G. Olick of Belle Meade, N. J.
A number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from the Summit Church of the Brethren near Centerville, The Rev. Rufus King and the Rev. Beverly Smith will conduct the services and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Active pallbearers, who are cousins, will be; Paul Huffman. Merrill Craun. Joe F. Shifflett, Eldon Shull, Boyd Glick, Ray Glick. Dr. Galen Craun and Orville Wise Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the faculty of the Craigsville School, pastors of the 2nd Virginia District of the Church of the Brethren, and fellow ministers of Craigsville.
The body will be moved this morning from the Lindsey funeral home to the home of his parents. The body will be removed to the church at 9:30 Tuesday morning to lie in state from ten o’clock until the hour of the services.
The relatives will meet at the home of his parents Tuesday at 10:30 where a brief service will be held prior to leaving for the church.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and that the money normally used for this purpose be sent to Dr. Rufus B. King of Bridgewater for a memorial fund for the Bethany Biblical Seminary.
