Gene A. Verkuilen, age 37, Wittenberg, died Wednesday, November 28, 1973 following a traffic accident on Hwy 29 west of Shawano.
He was born June 19, 1936 in Menasha, the son of Melvin and Helen (Spitzer) Verkuilen.
On May 18, 1963 Gene was united in marriage to Lana Hegewald in Wittenberg. She survives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gene is survived by three children, Sandra, Diane and Kevin, all at home; four brothers, Darrelle, Melvin (Dolores), all of Neenah, Ronald and Michael (Mary), all of Wittenberg; and one sister, Darlene (Terrance) Fields, Oshkosh.
Funeral services were held December 1, 1973 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Richard Borchers officiated. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg.
