Sarah Flower Dies; Ends Five Generations

Mrs. Sarah Manora Flower, 83, died in an Emmett nursing home Dec. 19 after a long illness, ending five generations in her family.
Mrs. Flower was born Jan. 14. 1874, Peke City, lowa, and was married in Indianoa, Neb. on Dec. 25, 1889, to Eugene Flower. The couple moved to Emmett in 1921, where her Husband preceded her in death in 1932. She was a member of the Full Gospel church.
Survivors include two sons: Ernest Flower, Richland, Wash., and Lawrence Flower, Emmett; eight daughters: Mrs. Erma Massengale and Mrs. Lizzie Massengale, both of Kennewick, Wash.; Mrs. Blanche Brutzman, Lewiston; and Mrs. Etta Walker, Mrs. Florence Prater, Mrs. Agnes Holbrook, Mrs. Cora Mills and Mrs. Wanda Portrey, all of Emmett; 89 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Sarah and Eugene bore 15 children. Frankie Flower was born in 1890 and died of diphtheria in 1892; Fredie Flower was born in 1902 and died at birth. All other children enjoyed a full life.

Please note that the name Flowers is sometimes spelled without the "s" on the end. Some family members dropped the "s".
