Robert S. Newby, 61, long time resident of Young County died at his home. He was the son of pioneer settlers of the northeast section of Stephens County, five miles south of Bunger.

Robert Newby became a member of the Christian Church on 7 November 1937. He spent his entire life in Graham and was highly respected by his many friends.
Survived by his wife; one son - Morris Newby; two daughters - Mrs. A.M. Atwood and Miss Mazelle Newby; four grandchildren; two brothers - H.T. Newby and B.E. Newby; three sisters - Mrs. George Valentine, Mrs. H.S. Coleman, Mrs. Beatrice Smith.
