Marie M. Bender
Marie M. Bender, 87, of 330 23rd St., Altoona, formerly of Bedford RD 2, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1990 in Altoona Hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1903, at New Paris RD 1, a daughter of John and Lonie (Mock) Vaughn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Bender, two daughters, Carrie Shaffer and Effie Poland, an infant daughter, Thelma; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by these children: William E. of Milwaukee; Margaret, wife of Forrest Leppert, New Paris RD; Jennie, wife of Willie Lingenfelter, Apollo, Fla.; Sylvester, East Freedom; George, married to the former Beverly Knepper, Woodlands, Texas; David, married to the former Janet Flore, Lancaster; and Delores Bender of Altoona; 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Irene Hengst of Bedford RD 2 and Thressa Crooks of Everett.
Mrs. Bender was affliliated with the Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
Funeral services: Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Jack Geisel Funeral Home, Pleasantville, with the Rev. Charles F. Rhodes officiating. Burial in Fishertown Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home 7 to 9 Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
