Martha was the daughter of Frederick and Sally (Barnett) Hale (Haile), Jr. born in McMinn County, Tennessee. Martha and her family migrated to southern Missouri and are believed to have settled in Dallas County for sometime (ca 1850-1855). She was married to Michael (Mikel) Dixon and gave birth to a son John Thomas on Mar 30, 1855, in Dallas County. The Hale and Dixon familes moved on to Polk County, Missouri where they are found in 1860. Census records suggest that Michael was renting a farm adjacent to his father-in-law. Martha and Michael had 10 children. She and Michael moved their family to Perche Twp, Boone County, Missouri where they are found in 1870.
Children (burial locations unknown): George B. Dixon (1857-1878), Margaret Dixon (1860-1878), Mary S. Dixon (1870-abt 1880's), Sarah N. Dixon (1871-abt 1880's).
