Loval 'Bud' Ralstin, 84, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at his residence.
Born Sept. 5, 1920, in Jennings County, he was the son of Everett and Lavinia (Hanshew) Ralstin, both deceased. He married Emily Rose Nighbert July 19, 1945; she survives.
Mr. Ralstin lived most of his life in Rushville, moving to Shelbyville in 1999. He worked in the Shipping Department at Schnadig Furniture in Rushville for 42 years. He and his wife also owned and operated the East Ninth Street Laundromat in Rushville for 20 years. He served as a tailgunner on a B-17 during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Rushville American Legion for more than 50 years, and a member of the Sexton Christian Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Thomas L. Ralstin of Shelbyville and Richard L. Ralstin of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Harriet Craig of Shelbyville; three brothers, Philip Ralstin of Rushville, Keith Ralstin of Florida and Paul Edward Ralstin of Crossville, Tenn.; three sisters, Velma Shockley of Rushville, Mary (Mrs. Pete) Bell of Green Forest, Ark., and Josephine Taylor of Andersonville; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Brian Smith officiating. Burial, which will include a graveside military service, will follow in Center Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
