George Kohler Buried In Church Cemetery
North Branch - Services were held this morning in SS Peter and Paul's Church here for George Kohler, 65. The Rev. Fr. Martin Gallagher officiated and burial was in the church cemetery, southwest of the village.
Mr. Kohler, 65, dropped dead as a result of heart disease Wednesday soon after he left work at the Harper Elevator, where he had been employed several years. Coroner H.M. Best was called from Lapeer.
Mr. Kohler leaves his widow, Mrs. Margaret Kohler; three daughter, Mrs. Olive Kowatt, Detroit, Mrs. Esther Watters, Windsor, Ont., and Mrs. Margaret Phelps, Pontiac; four sons, Simon, Detroit, Leo, Dearborn, Gerald, Rochester, and Robert, in service overseas; four sisters, Mrs. Sophronia Robinet and Mrs. Theresa Bruman, Burnside Township, Mrs. Mary Cassidy and Mrs. Anna Schultz, Detroit, and several grandchildren.
He was born Feb. 19, 1873, in Burnside Township, son of Marshall and Magdelina Kohler. In October, 1907, he married Margaret Scharf. Twenty-eight years ago they moved to North Branch, where Mr. Kohler was employed by the North Branch Elevator and then the Harper Elevator.
