DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG MOTHER - MRS. ALLENE MATTINGLY LEAKE, 28, FORMER LEBANON RESIDENT, DIES HERE - FUNERAL AT CHICAGO
Mrs. Mary Allene Leake, 28 years of age, wife of James Leake, of Dant, this county, died at Baute's Infirmary in this city, at two o'clock. Death was due to heart trouble. Mrs. Leake was brought to the hospital last week. She had been ill for more than a year and was a sufferer from high blood pressure. Mrs. Leake was formerly Miss Allene Mattingly, a daughter of Mrs. Allie Mattingly, of this city, and the late Thomas Mattingly. She was born November 9. 1906, in this city, and made her home here until her marriage. She was graduated from St. Augustine's High School in 1924 and later graduated from St. Helen's Business College in Louisville. For a time she was bookkeeper in the office of the Gaillard Motor Company in this city and later held a position in the office of a furniture company in Louisville. Her marriage to Mr. Leake was solemnized at St. Augustine's church in this city in November, 1927, by the Rev. Father J. A. Hogarty. Since that time she and Mr. Leake had made their home at Dant, where he was engaged in farming. She was a member of the Catholic church and a devoted wife and mother. She possessed a lovely personality and her friends included all who knew her. Surviving are her husband, her mother; four children, James Lewis, Elizabeth Ann, Francis Gerald and Patricia Delores Leake; two brothers, W. Robert Mattingly and Charles Mattingly, of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Hood Borders and Mrs. Alton Bradshaw, of Lebanon, Mrs. Joseph Leake, of Dant, and Sister Thomasine, a teacher in the parochial school at Hardinsburg. The body was taken Monday morning to the home of her mother on East Main street, remaining there until ten o'clock Tuesday morning when it was taken to her home at Dant. Funeral services will be held at nine o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Francis of Assisi Church at Chicago by the Rev. Father E. J. Stuart. Burial will be in St. Francis Church Cemetery.
