Bozeman Daily Chronicle (MT) - June 26, 2005
Deceased Name: FLOYD STONER
Floyd Stoner met the Lord Jesus for his homecoming on June 23, 2005. God graciously answered his prayers as his health deteriorated in the months preceding his death. He was born at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital on June 29, 1915 to Floyd E. Stoner, Sr. and Elva "Talbott" Stoner. He attended school in Manhattan graduating from Manhattan High School. He married Helen Stoudt on Dec. 30, 1933. Floyd and Helen built and operated the business known as Stoner's Service; delivering bulk fuel and operating a retail gasoline and auto repair.

Floyd started his working career very young shining shoes, delivering groceries in Manhattan for the People's Store and assisting his dad in the coal and Auto Inn business. His core values and business expertise were evident to all who knew him.

He was a community minded citizen serving on the Manhattan School Board giving 52 years of service in the Manhattan Fire Dept with 17 years dedicated to the Fire Chief position. The first "resuscitator" was introduced to the department while he was active as Fire Chief.

He was an avid baseball fan watching the Cubs and Mariners at every opportunity. Chess was his game, providing a challenge to many . He and Helen demonstrated his love for music on the dance floor in their younger days. They graced the floor of the Palladium in Hollywood, Ca and the Columbia Gardens in Butte. He was a member of the Manhattan Presbyterian Church serving as treasurer for a period of time. His parents also attended this church so God's word became precious to him at a young age. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Muriel Larson, Dorothy Morgan, and Eloise Clinton.

Thank you dad for being an excellent roll model, teaching us honesty and integrity, the value of a strong work ethic, holding to high moral values, compassion to others, demonstrating a generous spirit, instilling in us an appreciation for all types of music, advising us in all aspects of life, teaching us not to be "too serious".

We love you and will miss you greatly!
