He was born March 4, 1882, in Nappanee, Ind., and moved to Manhattan in 1908. On October 8, 1908, he married Elva Tolbert in St. Paul, Minn.
He lived in Manhattan for 61 years and was self-employed as a coal dealer for over 50 years. He was also mayor of Manhattan for several years, and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Murial Larson of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Dorothy Morgan of Manhattan and Mrs. Art (Eloise) Clinton of Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, Floyd Stoner, Jr. of Manhattan and Dr. Gerald Stoner of Missoula; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Manhattan Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Meadowview Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Ryan will officiate.
