Body of Mrs. Sylvia Greening Sent North

Mrs. Sylvia Greening, wife of Guy Greening, died at the home of her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Greening, 711 Tangerine Avenue, St. Petersburg, Tuesday afternoon at about 1:15 o'clock. she had been in ill health since about Christmas time. Doctors had been consulted and while they probably knew the cause of her illness they kept it very quiet and not until after her death was Mr. Greening told that she had a cancer. She bore her sufferings with true Christian fortitude and only almost at the close of her life did she confide her fears to Mr. Greening when she called him to her bedside and told him she did not think she was here for long.

Mrs. Greening was 52 years old. She was born at Gary, Ind., but when a very small child she with her parents moved to Daisy, Tenn. Here she grew to womanhood. She had been coming to Florida off and on for many years and back in 1945 she came here to take treatments at the Dr. Barth Sanatorium. There she met Guy Greening and on March 2, 1945 the wedding ceremony was performed that joined together as man and wife Sylvia Richmond and Guy Greening.

The body was sent to Daisy, Tenn., Wednesday night accompanied by the husband, Guy Greening, and his parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Greening. Interment was had at the cemetery at Daisy where others of the family are laid. The funeral was probably held yesterday.

The deceased leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Guy C. Greening, her mother, Mrs. Richmond, two brothers, James and Cecil Richmond, Gary, Ind., and two sisters,, Mrs. Nell Carter, Cotopaxi, Colo., and Miss Iva B. Richmond, Daisy, Tenn.

Mrs. Greening acted as a sub teacher in the Safety Harbor and Clearwater schools during the school year of 1946-47 and was offered a regular place on the staff of teachers but this she declined. She was well educated and all who knew her learned to love her very much. In her departure for that realm from which no traveler returns, the community has lost a most valuable citizen.
