Judge J.T. Boone Died Yesterday - Was Prominent Figure in Louisiana Politics, Filled Many Offices of Trust
Arcadia: Judge J.T. Boone, aged about 70 years, died Thursday morning at his home in Mt. Lebanon after a lingering illness. The deceased came to Louisiana soon after the Civil War and since that time has been a resident of Bienville Parish. After teaching for several years, he was admitted to the bar. In 1872 he was elected Judge of Bienville Parish, and in 1888, under a different constitution, he became Judge of the Second District consisting of Bossier, Webster, and Bienville Parishes. He represended his parish in the Constitutional Convention of 1898, and in 1900 was elected State Senator from the Bienville-Claiborne District. He served also as president of the Parish School Board for ten years. In all of these official positions, Judge Boone served his fellow citizens faithfull and efficiently and, together with his four sons and three daughters, many friends mourn his loss.
