Gustave A. Henschel, 81, a retired town of Russell farmer from Route 2, Elkhart Lake, died at his home this morning
following a five-month heart ailment.
He was born in the town of Rhine on Nov. 6, 1875, the son of the late Carl and Rosa (Conrad) Henschel. He received his education at a Rhine district school and on Aug. 30, 1900,was married to Mary Mueller at St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church in the town of Russell.
The couple lived on a farm in that township until 1929 whena son, Albert, took over for them. At that time they moved to a home across the road from their former farm dwelling.
He served as a director of the Elkhart Lake Canning Co.
until the plant closed a few years ago. He was also a former supervisor of Russell township and a former school board member of Districts One and Two in Russell. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kiel where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor, will be in charge of services. Burial will he in Kiel cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel
from 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon until 11 o'clock Monday
morning, and then at the church from 11:30 up until time of services.
Survivors include: the widow; one son, Albert J., of Russell;a daughter, Mrs. Bert (Verona) Berner, of Wauwatosa four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs.William Brieske, Elkhart Lake. He was preceded in death by a son, who died at the age of
three months, three sisters and three brothers. - Feb. 1957
