Albert married Eliza Jane Myers on October 26th, 1848 in Springfield Township, Jefferson County, Ohio but moved to the area of Poe, in Medina Co, Ohio about 1852. They were the parents of four children:
Nancy Ellen Nicholls b. 4 Mar 1850
George Washington Nicholls b. Feb 1854
William Thomas Nicholls b. 27 Aug 1858
John C. Nicholls b. Sep 1861
In 1867, Albert settled in Macon Co, Illinois and built a frame house a mile north of Hall Cemetery. He and Wyatt Cherry started a brickyard and Albert engaged in business as a blacksmith. About 1870, he decided to buy a lot in the new town of Blue Mound and moved his house on to the new property. He continued blacksmithing at the new location until 1874 when he sold the shop to John McClure. He then went into business with Daniel Dunbar (who had married his cousin Mary Elizabeth Nicholls in 1872)running a general store they had purchased from John Hatfield. They continued in this business until 1889 when Albert sold out his interest to his partner and retired. His wife Eliza died in June of 1900 and Albert spent his later years living with his son John and his wife until his death at age 90 in September 1916.
