Elmira Donaldson Halbert was the daughter of Timothy Donaldson and Abigail Elinwood Donaldson and the wife of Asel Halbert. Elmira's father and grandfather both served in the American Revolution. In 1833 Elmira's brothers, cousins, and uncles changed the family name from 'Danielson' to 'Donaldson,' believing 'Donaldson' to be the original family surname back in 1600's Scotland.
