PECULIAR ACCIDENT
Iron Spike From Thresher Drum Kills Wm. Painter

From the Marion Center Independent it is learned that Wm. Painter a well known farmer who lived in Canoe township, between Rochester Mills and Hortons, was instantly killed in a peculiar manner on Monday of last week. The Painter place is back from the main road and pretty hard to get a threshing outfit into it. To do the threshing they had connected a Ford auto to an old fashioned tumbling shaft thresher and had just started up when one of the iron spikes in the drum of the thresher became loose and flew out, striking Mr. Painter, who was near, over the eye with such force that the skull was crushed so badly as to cause his death.

The deceased was a son of Mrs. George Painter, of Cloe. He leaves the following sons and daughters, Guy, of Glen Campbell; Mrs. May Wright, John and Clyde, of Richmond. Mrs. Holben, Mrs. Bargerstock and Mrs. Zufall, of Cloe, are sisters of the deceased, as are Mrs. Meade Long and Mrs.. James McCullough of Sharon. Funeral services were held Friday at the Fairview church, burial in Fairview church cemetery
