GUY R. ADDY OF WINTERSET DIES
Death Occurred Saturday at His Residence in Winterset.
Guy R. Addy, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Saturday, Dec. 14, at his home in Winterset. He was 74 years of age.
Mr. Addy was a son of Alexander and Mary Howell Addy, and was born in this county March 26, 1889. During his early life he engaged in farming, but in 1936 moved to Winterset. He worked for the county here and for a number of years served as manager of the D.X. bulk plant. He had been retired since 1953.
He was married at Winterset Feb. 7, 1911 to Alice M. Myers, who survives him. He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. L. W. Haymond of Hermeston, Ore., Mrs. John Westphal of Earlham and Mrs. Claude LeCoeq of Winterset, six sons, Alex and Ray Addy of Boise, Ida., Guy R. Addy Jr. of Imperial Beach, Calif. and Ralph, Paul and Dale Addy of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold, at the age of four years.
He also leaves 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Orvie and Finley Addy of Winterset, and four sisters, Mrs. Blance Brooker of Winterset, Mrs. Emma Thompson of Van Meter, Mrs. Leo Walter of Rapid City, S. Dak., and Mrs. Greta Dorrell of Petal, Miss.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert A. Owens, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial will be made in North McDonald cemetery.
