She was born Oct. 23, 1923 in the town of Vilas to the late Augusta (Weisshahn) and John W. Strobel.
On Nov. 15, 1941 in Antigo, she married Albert James Zaitz, who died Sept. 12, 1971.
Mrs. Zaitz was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo.
She was also a member of Vilas Women's Homemakers Club. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Raised in the town of Vilas, she and her husband farmed there after marriage. In 1962 they moved to Milwaukee, where Mrs. Zaitz was employed as a cook at Gimbel's Department Store for many years. After retiring, she returned to the town of Vilas.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Danniel (Cecille) Nicholson of Gleason; three sons, LaVerne (Helen) Zaitz of Jacksonville Ark., Donald (Margie) Zaitz of Beaufort, S.C., and Lester Zaitz of Des Moines, Iowa.
Also surviving are two sisters, Jean Grabowski of Oak View, Calif. and Alyce James of Vacaville, Calif.; two brothers, Dellmar (Mildred) Strobel and Donald (Elgin) Strobel, both of Antigo; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A son-in-law, Dan Nicholson, preceded her in death.
