Catherine's birth is also given in the Old Fam. Rec. found in Capt. John and Magdalene's pension file. She was often called Katy by relatives and friends. The record of her marriage to Samuel Clewell is found in the "Personal Rec. of rev. Mendsen," copied from the original German MSS in 1937 by the Rev. A. S. Leiby. Rev. In 1827, Mar. 1, Samuel Clewell was a witness, with Catherine's brother, Michael Dieter to the will of George Kohl of Moore. George Kohl is believed to have been an uncle of Catherine Dieter Clewell.
Catherine is mentioned in her father's will as his "dau. intermarried with Samuel Clewell" and she was to share in his estate with his other children. She had been married only 5 or 6 weeks at the time Capt. John made his will.
