John Peter Dieter was the son of John and Anna Catherine Thowisen Dieter. He married Maria Magdalena Kohl Nov. 15, 1774 and they became the parents of 13 children:

5.Petrus (John Peter)
6.Maria Susanna
7.George (John)
8.Maria Magdalena (again)
9.Anna Maria
10.Heinrich (John Henry
11.Wilhelm (William)

13.Michael (again).
He became a captain in the Northampton Co., Militia during the Rev. War. (Ref. Pension File No. W3180, Penn). In 1824 the solder referred to his children as Conrad, John, George, William, Michael, Susanna intermarried w/Peter Miller and Catharine intermarried w/Samuel Clamwall. His granddaughter was living with him at the time.
On Dec. 7, 1847, soldier's son John Dieter, applied for pension that was due himself and his brothers and sisters on account of the service of their father in the Rev. War. The claim was allowed.
At that time, Conrad and George resided in Livingston Co., New York, William and Michael resided in Crawford Co., Penn., John, Susanna and Catharine Clamwell and Anna Maria Dieter were residents of Northampton Co., Penn. Their sister, Maria Magdalena, who married Peter Miller, died Dec. 11, 1847.--S.Jones.
