According to family sources, William was buried 1st in Fitch Cemetery, Haverhill Twp. and later removed to Oakwood Cemetry in Rochester to be buried with his son George W. Dieter in Lot 142, Section 3.
William and his wife Maria Boyd became parents of 10 children: Daniel, Jacob, Joel, William, John, Henry Emery, Christiana, George Walter, Maria and Michael all born in Pennsylvania.
The birth and baptismal record of William is found in the Records of Zion Stone Chh., near Kreidersville, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania. (vol. SK, p. 25 of the translation by the Rev. A.S. Leiby, p. 49 of original German records).
William Dieter moved frequently but it was found that he and his sons removed about 1849 to Fond du Lac Co., Wisconsin. Most of the information regarding William was found in the Civil War Pension Files of his sons, Jacob, Henry, and George or their widows. George was the son of Captain John Dieter.
