Robert Franklin Atkinson, age 79, died Thursday, November 4, 1993 at his home in Houston. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 6 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Al Gaspard officiating.
The son of the late Sidney Evans Atkinson and the late Jimmie Ada Waldrop Atkinson, he was born in Chickasaw County. He was a former member of the Houston Masonic Lodge, a former member of the Lions Club, a former member of the Exchange Club, a former singer with the Houston Quartet and also served as Supervisor from 1956-1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn House Atkinson of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Pulaski of Dallas, TX; one son, Jim Atkinson of Tupelo; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Turner of Houston and Mrs. Edith Walker of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Sid Atkinson of Durham, NC and Edmond Atkinson of Maben; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
